Things to do with kids in Johnston: the go-to list for indoor and outdoor days.

Whether it's a blue-sky Saturday or a rainy Tuesday you need to survive, Johnston has more for kids than people expect - Terra Park with a splash pad and a stocked lake, a giant indoor sports complex, a movie theater, city pools, and a library that runs real programs. Here's the parent's cheat sheet, sorted by weather.

The short answer

Rainy/cold day: Ignit's indoor complex, a movie at AMC Classic Johnston 16, or the library's free programs. Nice day: Terra Park's splash pad, playground and stocked fishing lake, the city pools, the 45+ miles of trails, or the swim beach at Saylorville Lake. Lots of it is free.
